The perfect Brown Soda Bread

This Brown Soda Bread was one of the most popular items on the menu at Miss Marples Tea Rooms. A family recipe going back more than 200 years, and one that I’ve made more times than I could ever hope to count, I can’t wait to share it with you.

Ingredients:

  • 700g Wholegrain Brown Flour

  • 200g Plain White Flour

  • 2 Eggs

  • 2 Litres Buttermilk with 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil

  • 2 tbsp Oats

  • 2 tbsp Mixed Seeds

  • 2 tsp Salt

  • 2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda

Method:

In separate bowls combine the wet and dry ingredients.

Add the wet mix to the dry mix, mixing until fully combined.

Separate into 4 Loaf Tins.

Bake at 180C for 40-45 Minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out clean and dry.
